Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, also known as CBT, is a therapy which focuses on how emotions, thoughts and behaviours influence each other in our daily lives. The main element of CBT is setting goals as this helps the client to focus their thoughts, emotions and behaviours on the issue that is bothering them in the moment. CBT also encourages individuals to look at their lives in the present moment, while occasionally delving back to their past. Even though CBT is known as a structured therapy, it is important for the individual to steer their own journey, whilst I accompany them therapeutically.
Any type of mental health concern can have a significant impact on an individual’s life. Therefore it is important to seek help when you feel overwhelmed, distant or at a loss in life, because no matter we have all been there at some point.
Since qualifying in my field, I have worked with young people as well as adults in helping to guide and structure their lives in a positive and fulfilling manner. This has provided me with ample experience in working with many mental health avenues whilst gaining experience throughout.
