Sorca McGrath MA MIAPTP (Supervisor) MIPD (UK) MEAIP (EU)

Psychotherapist, Play Therapist and Creative Clinical Supervisor

Area of Expertise:

I am a psychotherapist, play therapist and creative clinical supervisor, accredited by The Irish Association for Play Therapy and Psychotherapy (IAPTP) and I am certified with the European Association of Integrative Psychotherapy (EAIP) and a member of The Institute of Psychotherapy and Disability (IPD).

I work from a humanistic and integrative approach which means I believe that the people I work with have an innate ability to connect with their own wisdom from within, in order to integrate experience, heal and grow. As a therapist, being a supportive witness to people finding their own value systems and paths to fulfillment is one of the greatest joys of doing this work.

I have over 15 years of experience, training and practice using a combination of therapeutic approaches with the unique people that I meet. Some of these approaches include; talk therapy, play therapy, dream work, sand or small world work, drawing, painting, writing, dancing, moving and sometimes just sitting still and feeling safe together. I share all relevant interpersonal neurobiological and emotional regulation information with my clients including learning about our nervous systems and how they inform how we meet the world.

I have a special interest in working with people living in care and the people and organisations who support them. I provide training to care organisations through my work with The Relate Ability Centre – a psychotherapy service specialising in working with intellectual disability, complex trauma, attachment issues, DID and systemic issues surrounding those who grow up in care.

I support psychotherapists, play therapists and other practitioners working in the field of mental health through clinical supervision.
